How to Get Heroes in Godforge

Your guide to summoning, Aetherstones, pity systems, Echo Summons, and every other way to add heroes to your roster.

Introduction

Building a powerful roster is the foundation of everything in Godforge. Whether you’re chasing a specific Legendary to anchor your team or just trying to fill out your collection, understanding how hero acquisition works will help you spend your resources wisely and avoid common mistakes.

If you’re brand new, start with the Getting Started guide for the big picture, and the Understanding Heroes guide to learn what makes each hero tick. This guide focuses on how to actually get them.

Aetherstones (Summoning Crystals)

The primary way to acquire new heroes in Godforge is through summoning. Summoning uses special crystals called Aetherstones, and there are four types. Each has different rarity pools and drop rates. Understanding which Aetherstone to use (and when) is one of the most important resource decisions you’ll make.

Every Aetherstone type has a built-in pity system. A pity system is a guaranteed drop at specific summon thresholds. Pity counters track how many summons you’ve done with a given crystal type without hitting the guaranteed rarity. If you pull the guaranteed rarity (or higher) before reaching the pity threshold, the counter resets.

Tip: You can check your current pity progress by selecting the Aetherstone type in the summoning screen. Your pity counter is displayed in the bottom-right corner of the interface.

Understanding Each Aetherstone

Mortal (Green) – The most common crystal you’ll encounter. You’ll accumulate these the fastest, and while the odds of pulling anything above Uncommon are slim, the pity system ensures you’ll steadily build a base of Rare heroes over time. Don’t underestimate Common and Uncommon heroes either. They serve as early-game workhorses and can be valuable as promotion material later.

Ancestral (Blue) – A significant step up. Every pull is guaranteed at least Rare, and the 9% Epic rate plus dual pity timers make these the stones where your mid-game roster really takes shape. If you’re close to a pity threshold, it’s almost always worth pushing through to hit it rather than switching to a different crystal type.

Eternal (Purple) – The only way to summon Eternal affinity heroes, who never suffer Weak Hits and have a passive 10% Strong Hit chance against all affinities. Drop rates mirror Ancestral stones, but the hero pool is completely different. Because Eternal heroes can’t be obtained any other way, these crystals are especially valuable. Do not spend them carelessly. For more on how Eternal affinity works, see the Understanding Heroes guide.

Flawless (Gold) – The premium crystal. Every pull is guaranteed Epic or better, and the 6% base Legendary rate with a 20-summon pity makes these the most efficient path to Legendary heroes. Save them for when you need them most, and always be aware of your pity counter before using them.

Echo Summons

Once you’ve pulled your first Legendary hero, a new system unlocks: Echo Summons. Every summon you perform from this point forward also generates Echo Fragments, a secondary currency that accumulates alongside your normal pulls.

When you’ve collected 500 Echo Fragments, you can exchange them for a duplicate of a Legendary hero you already own. This is incredibly valuable because duplicates serve two critical purposes:

  • Awakening – Feed duplicates into a hero to unlock Awakening levels (A1 through A5), which upgrade abilities and provide powerful stat boosts. See the Progression & Leveling guide for full details on Awakening.
  • Imprinting – Sacrifice a hero to extract their passive ability as an Imprint, which can then be slotted into a weapon and used by any hero. See the Gear & Equipment guide for more on Imprints.

Echo Summons give you a reliable path to powering up your best Legendary heroes without relying purely on luck. Keep an eye on your Fragment count, 500 may sound like a lot, but it builds up steadily as you summon across all crystal types.

Other Ways to Get Heroes

Summoning is the primary hero acquisition method, but it’s not the only one.

Tower of Strife Rewards

The Tower of Strife – Godforge’s tower like-style challenge mode can reward heroes as you climb its floors. Tower rewards rotate and may include hero shards or complete hero drops depending on the season and difficulty tier. This makes the Tower worth pushing even if you’re not specifically farming gear.

Events

FATELESS Games has indicated that future events will offer opportunities to earn specific heroes. Event heroes may be obtainable through event currencies, milestone rewards, or event-specific summoning pools. Keep an eye on official announcements and the FATELESS Discord for event details as they’re revealed.

Summoning Strategy Tips

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you build your roster:

Don’t ignore lower-rarity heroes. Common and Uncommon heroes from Mortal Aetherstones still have value as promotion material and early-game carries. Rare heroes can be surprisingly effective, especially for newer players who need to fill out specific Archetypes or Affinities. Some Rares also have strong passives that make excellent Imprints.

Check your pity counters. Before spending any Aetherstones, check where you stand on each pity timer. If you’re 15 Ancestral summons in, it’s worth pushing to 20 for the guaranteed Epic rather than switching to a different crystal.

Save Flawless Aetherstones. With only a 20-summon Legendary pity, Flawless stones are the most efficient path to Legendary heroes. Resist the urge to spend them as soon as you get them, wait until you have enough to push to pity if needed.

Echo Fragments are a marathon, not a sprint. You won’t hit 500 overnight, but every summon counts. Don’t stress about accumulating them quickly. They are a long-term investment that rewards consistent play.

Balance your Eternal pulls. Eternal heroes are powerful thanks to their affinity-neutral combat profile, but they can only come from Eternal Aetherstones. Don’t neglect your Eternal stone stockpile in favor of other crystal types.
