After some speculation sparked by an April 1st video, the team behind Godforge has made it clear: the Beta announcement is very real, and it is right around the corner.
The developers at Fateless have confirmed that Godforge is targeting May 19th for a Closed Beta, with sign-ups closing on May 14th. Players who have not yet registered can still secure a spot through the official website.
Why Beta Instead of Early Access?
Rather than rushing into Early Access, the team made a deliberate choice to slow things down. The reasoning comes down to four major factors:
- Game Quality and Stability: While the game is already in a solid state, it is not quite “great” yet. Beta allows for more polish and testing before monetization enters the picture.
- Player Experience: Early feedback revealed that onboarding, narrative pacing, and early exposure to unique systems needed improvement.
- Unique Features (USPs): Systems like weapons, imprints, and combat depth exist, but were not being showcased early enough to hook players.
- Long-Term Success: The team wants to avoid a weak first impression, something that has hurt many games launching too early.
A Major Technical Pivot
One of the biggest reasons for the delay is a complete overhaul of the game’s backend. After scalability tests exposed serious limitations, the team migrated to a new system better suited for large-scale multiplayer performance. While this pushed timelines back, it is expected to dramatically improve stability and responsiveness.
What to Expect in Beta
The Closed Beta will focus on core gameplay and feedback, including:
- Campaign content starting with Avalon
- Dungeon systems including ascension, weapons, and equipment
- Early-game progression and narrative
- Performance across PC, Mac, iOS, and Android
Some features, such as PvP and certain game modes, will be temporarily disabled to keep testing focused.
Players should also note:
- Progress will be wiped after Beta
- Cosmetic rewards will be earnable for future use
Looking Ahead
With new investment secured, the studio now has more time to refine the experience. Early Access is tentatively expected later in 2026, with additional features like world bosses, events, and expanded narrative depth.
The takeaway is simple. Godforge is not rushing to market. It is taking the time to get things right. And with Beta just weeks away, players will soon get a hands-on look at how that approach is shaping up.
