Ramesses II, also known as Ramesses the Great, ruled Egypt during the 19th Dynasty (c. 1279–1213 BCE) and is widely regarded as one of its most powerful and influential pharaohs. His reign was marked by extensive military campaigns, most notably the Battle of Kadesh against the Hittites, which led to one of the earliest known peace treaties. Ramesses II reshaped Egypt’s landscape through monumental construction, including Abu Simbel, the Ramesseum, and vast additions to Karnak and Luxor. Through art, inscriptions, and propaganda, he cultivated an image of divine kingship and eternal strength, ensuring his legacy endured long after his death. Ramses was one of the three starting characters in Alpha.
