Odin is the chief god of Norse mythology, revered as the Allfather and ruler of Asgard, whose worship is attested throughout the Viking Age and earlier Germanic traditions. Associated with wisdom, war, poetry, and magic, Odin is famed for his relentless pursuit of knowledge, sacrificing an eye for insight and hanging himself upon the world tree Yggdrasil to gain the runes. Often depicted as a one-eyed wanderer accompanied by the ravens Huginn and Muninn, Odin embodied the ideals of leadership, cunning, and sacrifice. Unlike many sky-father gods, Odin was not solely a figure of order, but one deeply entwined with fate, death, and the coming of Ragnarök.
