Horus

Horus is one of the most significant deities in ancient Egyptian religion, worshiped from the Early Dynastic Period onward as a god of the sky, kingship, and divine order. Commonly depicted as a falcon or a man with a falcon’s head, Horus was believed to be the living embodiment of the pharaoh, legitimizing royal authority on earth. Central to his mythology is the conflict with his uncle Set, whom Horus battles to avenge the murder of his father Osiris and restore cosmic balance. This struggle symbolized the triumph of order over chaos and reinforced the ideological foundation of Egyptian kingship for over three millennia. Some Pop culture and video game appearances include Stargate SG-1 (TV series, 1997), Smite (2014), and Assassin’s Creed Origins (2017).
