Anubis was an ancient Egyptian god associated with mummification, burial, and the afterlife. Usually depicted with the head of a jackal, he was believed to protect the dead and guide souls to the underworld. Anubis played a key role in the weighing of the heart ceremony, where he helped determine whether a soul was worthy of entering the afterlife. He was one of the oldest and most important gods in Egyptian religion.
