The House today approved a smoking ban bill 224-117 and sent it to Governor. According to an article over on WMUR the Governor has said that he will sign it. “Nashua Sen. David Gottesman, the prime sponsor, said a ban will protect workers and customers from the health risks of secondhand smoke.” This is more government thinking people are too stupid to know that smoking and being around smoke is bad for them. The more responsibilities and freedoms we take away from the people the more problems will result. Parents and adults should be held responsible for their own actions or in-actions. Making laws taking away the freedom of choice is not the way the government should be heading.
There is an article over on Slashdot touting the demise of Dr Who after the next season (4) is done. Apparently the article is being run on a UK tabloid site The Sun. Feel free to check it out, but this is by no means official. Fret not until the BBC announces the same thing.
I really wish that stupid garbage like this wouldn’t make it onto slashdot. I have never considered them a rumor site, and publishing this trash just doesn’t help.

Today is a fantabulous day for fight practice. I hope that everyone will show up. Although I suspect that some will not due to recovering from Creathorne.
See you there!
Home from Creathorne. We had pretty good attendance this year. I can also say that although the PC populace may be a bit frustrated, most of them had fun. As usual I went out of my way to ask a few people, and they all assented they had fun. The reason that I say they PC population may be frustrated is because they actually failed the night quest(s). They also let the bad guys free into the realms. Hopefully Damien will do follow up event(s) and plot to give the PCs the chance to fix their mistakes in a semi-timely manner.
Idaris placed 3rd in the War tourney again this year. However this year they had to work for it. It is nice to see something that you have created and labored on come to some type of fruition. Celeste has been elected the new leader of Idaris until Sir Dark can be dealt with by the PCs. Airforce received his tabard (a year in the making). They also have several new petitioners; Mitch and Salvo. Both placed well in the newbie tournaments sweeping many of the 1st – 3rd places. This has been a good start to our eventing season. I’m proud of all of you.
Idaris caused chaos and confusion by summoning Sir Dark’s spirit for 5 minutes using a commune with spirit. And as some highlights were also the heros. Lt. Vasdre killed himself to complete the Anarchy A to for Kwartz (Q) of Folkstones call to the Dark One (and thus getting everyone dead back up). Airforce sacrificed himself to power a DI to reopen the gate so that the Realms could go and get the corpses of their friends out of the failed night quest. Kudos to both of you!
Coming up shortly on 6/8/2007 is Convergences. If the PCs succeed it will mark the end of the Zermarx plot line. I’m looking forward to seeing how things turn out. Although I must admit that I find myself hoping that the PCs fail.
ps Pirates 3 was pretty good, although I find myself wishing that they hadn’t left it open for another one.
Packing for Tournaments of Creathorne 14 has been completed. We’re about to head out to see Pirates 3. Caspien spent the night last night. More once we’re home from the long weekend.
We are under a tornado warning! The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado warning for Southern NH. More specifically the warning is for Cheshire County (West of us), and will last until 6pm. This is the first time in my recent memory that this has happened.

On a completely unrelated subject, it looks like Nashua Fight Practice is canceled tonight due to thunderstorms.
Recipe for success…
Decent Salad bar
(price included in meal)
Neat side dishes like friend plantains, rice with carrots and peas
(price included in meal)
Unlimited meat on a stick,,,
Worth every penny of the $24.95 per person.
What do you get when you put 26 Realmsies in one restaurant besides over an 1k bill? A great way to send a friend to Iraq, and a great way to welcome another friend home.
When I say meat on a stick I am generalizing terribly. Servers walk around with meat on a rotisserie skewer, and a sharp carving knife. They bring it to you and cut it off right in front of you. Choices include Prime rib, Short rib, Chicken, Lingüiça, Lamb, Flank steak, Sirlion, and my personal two favorites Filet and Turkey wrapped in Bacon. Yum-tas-tic!
Among those in attendance this evening were Cain, Vawn w/ wife, Gideon, Sir K w/ Family, BH, LHoffman, Kyome, Dan K, RRoberts, Mike & Michelle, Shawn & Joanne, Werner, Leanne, some others I am forgetting their names, and of course Freesia and myself. And lets not forget the two men of the hour, Guillium and Kheldar! Special thanks to Talia for organizing the whole evening!
For those interested you should definitely check this place out!
Gauchos Brazilian Steakhouse
Good luck my friend, come home to us safely. Welcome home my friend, we’re glad your back.
ps: We so have to throw a feast in this style!
Today I attended the 2007 HUD New England Regional HMIS Conference at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. HMIS stands for Homeless Management Information System. It is essentially HUDs answer for collecting and tracking date related to the Homeless.
I think that many people equate the homeless with the jobless. This is a common misnomer. Over the past few years of working for my current employer my views of the world have been challenged, and I dare say broadened. There are several items that once realized forever change the world for you. The number of homeless veterans for example is staggering. So is the number of homeless whom are also mentally ill.
If one were to compare the amount of money being spent daily on the war in Iraq versus the amount of money it would take to house just the number of homeless we know about in this country would be very telling. Despite what any government official may state publicly in an speech, no one knows the real number of homeless in the USA. Any number is either a projection, or based on the number of contacted people. Who can count how many are not contacted or been outreached to? No one.
I believe that the only way to do so would be to implant everyone in the country with a microchip (like the RFID one that has been talked about in recent months). We would then have to place RFID receivers on every street corner and every door in the country. Even then I’m not convinced that it would be possible. So long as every new born child was born and implanted in the hospital the bulk of people could be accounted for in a few generations. Scary idea huh?
But how do you make the people want it? The government could pass a law. This would not be wise, nor easy. The best and easiest idea is to make them want it. Imagine a barcode or RFID tag system in which the federal government linked to a interest free “credit card account”. One which when used gave a 10% off any purchase made in which the RFID or barcode was scanned. People would line up and there would be huge waiting lines for people to get them. This would also allow them to collect demographics on their citizens. Thats an even scarier thought.
We’ve seen the government moving towards just this sort of thing. Have you heard about the Real ID Act? Now I admit that the Real ID Act is a long way away from what I proposed as a possibility earlier in this post, it is another thing going in the direction of a bleak future. The government seems more and more intent on taking away freedoms, and tracking its citizens movements. Can you say centralized government databases. In this age where data theft is starting to become a reality more and more, and corporate espionage no longer being firmly seated in the realm of science fiction… Why would anyone want this? Isn’t anyone else scared by what they see?
This weekend was the 9th annual Green and Gold. Much fun was had by all. Kathy and Cheech as usual ran a smooth and professional event. Some highlights included some members of Thorne Valley showing up to tell the realms of Blackwood invading them. A bunch of mini-quests and a night Quest thrown by the Adventurer’s Guild. They are some good people.
I’m very tired, very sunburned, and very glad to have had a chance to help out again at this staple and historical event for the community. If you didn’t go you missed a lot of fun. See you all next year!
ps Freezie pops FTW!
FOXNews.com is carrying a story (pseudo-interview) with George Lucas. Here are some of the high lights
- “It’s Silly” (in reference to Spiderman 3)
- Sean Connery has still not signed on for the cast of Indiana Jones 4.
- he plans on making two more live action Star Wars movies. “But they won’t have members of the Skywalker family as characters,” he said. “They will be other people of that milieu.”
Really? Interesting. Both movies are expected to be about an hour long, and will be made for TV. No idea what channels they will air on at this time though. As much as I love the idea that there will be more Star Wars movies for me to collect and own, I cant help be listen the the voice in the back of my head. The one that is saying “Ewok Xmas Special Redeux”. Let’s face it everything that was made for TV so far to date (that wasn’t animated) has been complete garbage.
